(From the SMART team director, Fri 5/15/2009 4:01 PM),
Just an added note: That baggage money the airline did not charge for the first portion of the trip ... the Lord knew we would need it in another place. Upon arrival, the owner of where we are staying decided that it wasn't enough money and he needed more. Such is culture here or in many countries. However, when Bro. Shrivnauth told us about the difference, it was more than the baggage fee, BUT the unclaimed baggage fee helped to cover a portion of it. That was a blessing for the team to see.
One other note: This morning (Friday, 5/15), we were at an older age young person high school. Great attendance, all shared their testimonies, the girls taught them a fun song, all team members shared their testimonies and Kevin ended with his powerful testimony of his ALS diagnosis and how God has used that in his life. An invitation with every team member sharing the Lord with a few students who were interested ... allowed 9 students to come to Christ. Others received assurance of salvation.
We're off to the nursing home this afternoon with a clarinet duet, ladies' quartet, Ted will share his testimony. Bro. Baughman will lead singing, and Kevin will share the Wordless book and an invitation. All will receive a wordless book as a gift.
Tonight, please be praying ... their first teen activity. All will be involved and Ted share his heart and a devotional - all involved in games, singing, sharing of testimonies, an invitation and we are praying that some will come to the Lord.
Saturday, 5/16, and Sunday, 5/17, are killer days with absolutely every team member using every opportunity to serve, be involved - teaching, singing, sharing testimonies, special music, etc. And ... the wedding.
Some laundry got done this morning very early, but at the church and Shrivnauths ... no power or water for more than a day now. Thankfully, where we are staying, there is a generator for those rough days.
Everyone pitches in for breakfast prep and cleanup and much is accomplished even before our day officially begins. Everyone is amazed at how much has been accomplished in a very short time.
Have a blessed day!
