It All Began
During our missions conference at church, Ms. Carol Hirons taught the children about the life of Mary Slessor. It was during that conference when I was about 8 years old that I surrendered my life to serving the Lord on the mission field. Since then, the Lord challenged me through a school research project. I wrote an English paper on the HIV/AIDS disease that is plaguing many countries in Africa. Many orphans that are left destitute because of the consequences of their parent’s decisions. I then asked myself, “How will they ever hear about our loving and healing Heavenly Father if no one tells them?” In the following years, I have had a burden to minister to orphans in Africa. There are still many details that my Heavenly Father has promised to reveal to me in His perfect timing. Right now, my job is just to trust and obey Him.
Camp BIMI and SMART Trip
During the summer of 2006, I attended Camp BIMI I in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Camp BIMI is lead by Gerry Baughman and part of the ministry of Baptist International Missions Inc. Brother Baughman directs Camp BIMI as a ministry to inform through information, influence, and inspiration, those who are willing to serve the Lord on the mission field. After completing Camp BIMI I, the graduates are offered an opportunity to attend a SMART trip or summer missions trip. SMART stands for Student Missionary Apprentice Reality Training.
This Summer
This summer the Lord has opened the door for me to join the SMART team. The team will spend two weeks in each country from May 11th to June 8th. Below are some of the ministry opportunities we will have in each country.
