Sounds before the crack of dawn….

September 2009

It is that time of year when the alarm clock sounds before dawn and the school bell rings without fail. Ah, yes, after a week and a half of school we are already getting into the groove of classes. I am excited about my classes this semester. My classes now are finally in my major. Yea!! I am embarking on a grand adventure. This semester consists of: Teaching Reading, Teaching Language Arts, Teaching Bible, Tests and Measurements, Educational Psychology, Origins, and Bible Doctrines.

Here is my summary of this semester at S.C.H.O.O.L!!

S – STUDY!! By the way, I forgot to tell you, I had a date yesterday! I am sure you want to know all the details so I will treat you. In preparation for my project filled week, I decided to spend some quality time with my good friend, the Library. Ah yes, the many hours we spend together preparing for assignments and creating teaching visuals will not be spent in vain. I am sure there are many more dates to come!! I will make sure you are up to date on all of them;)

C – CHRIST. Every day it is my goal to spend personal time with my Savior and depend on Him as my strength when the days ahead get overwhelming. I also desire to be a woman of the Word, of prayer, and of faith.

H – HOMEWORK. Now that I am taking many teaching classes, this is my first semester that I will not have a research paper due. My big projects will be peer teachings and final exams.

O – OTHERS. This year the Lord has given me the opportunity to serve Him and others through a ministry as a floorleader. I am a co-leader for the 99 girls on my hall. Basically, I am a resource for those who have questions, a prayer warrior for the girls, a communicator for the college, and a security guard for the building. While this is a leadership position, the only possible way for me to impact the lives of the girls on my floor is through prayer and service. First and foremost, I lift up each girl on our floor in prayer. Secondly, as we learned in orientation, “I will only be a good floor leader if I am a good prayer warrior.”

O – OTHERS. As a part of my Teaching Bible class this semester I have the privilege of attending a Bible club as an outreach ministry. Every Sunday night I also have the opportunity to help in Master’s Club. It is very similar to AWANA. When we split into small groups for handbook time, I listen to Christopher and Camden say their verses.

L – LEARNING. As the Lord stretches me academically and spiritually, I have a lot of learning to do this semester. Here is one verse that I have claimed this semester: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3

From the Sunshine State to the distant lands and countries of my prayer warriors, I wish you all a blessed week. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. Over and out!

Serving our Savior,
Rebecca
