May 2011
“Miss Pritchett, I will miss you when you leave.”
The semester actually began two weeks before I would normally return to school. All the students doing their internship were required to be back for two weeks of orientation. Then I began to actually teach. At PCC all elementary education majors take an entire semester to train at Pensacola Christian Academy which is called an internship (or student teaching). I observed an advisory teacher with 32 students in the class. I saw that each student had their own personality. It was definitely always a challenge to prepare for every new day of lessons. As I was reading through my devotions, the Lord stopped my eyes on James 4:6, “But He giveth more grace. God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble.” To reinforce that truth, every day as we drove over to the Academy we would play music to prepare us for the day ahead. Track 16 was a song in which the lyrics said, “His will cannot lead you, where His grace cannot keep you.” While it was probably some of the most difficult months of my life so far, God showed me His grace in a personal way just at the moment I needed it! He knew just what I needed.
The Finale
So with internship over, I had one semester to wrap up my college career. Along with the beginning of the end of my college career, came an open door for next year. I had been and continued to pursue the option of going for a master’s degree in counseling at BJU. Again, I was put to the test as I waited and prayed for guidance from the Lord. I know most of the Christian life is compared to a race, but I think it is important for me to remember that life is a walk also. God was directing one step at a time, again just at the moment I need guidance. That is when I began to grasp another concept that James talked about. He said in James 1:4, “But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” So it was during recruitment that I met Mrs. Bandy from Calvary Baptist Church Academy in Glen Bernie, Maryland. I had said two things as a freshman, 1) I am never going home and 2) I never want to teach in a small Christian school. It was most exciting to see how the Lord answered my prayer for guidance and also simultaneously changed the desires of my heart. I have now signed contract with Calvary as their 3rd grade teacher for the 2011-2012 school year, and I know that is exactly where God wants me to be.
GO GREEN
Now I am off to camp! The WILDS is located in the mountains of Brevard, North Carolina. I will be there for ten weeks. During a typical week, I will have 8 girls in my cabin. I am looking forward to having a blast. There will be many challenging, exciting, and teachable moments. May I be a usable vessel for the Lord to make a difference in the lives of campers this summer. I am Lady Fiddle of Faddle on the green team!
