Oppressive Fear - Week 2

June 2011

One of my campers this week struggled with an oppressive spirit of fear. She did know Jesus as her Savior, yet, she was afraid of being separated from her mother for a whole week. This fear evidenced itself during the services, at night, and at random times during the day. She talked to me on Monday night. We then took some time to look at Isaiah 26:3 and discussed how God’s power was able to help her specifically in this time. She claimed two verses and wrote them on a 3x5 card to carry with her around camp. She was learning to ‘take every thought captive.’ I was not sure if she would make it through the week, but I prayed that God would show His power mighty in her life. I am excited to share with you, that she made it! God was able to challenge her and strengthen her during the week. Too often I limit God by my lack of trust in Him. He is definitely teaching me this summer the revolutionary concept of KNOWING my God and loving Him.
Thank you for praying! It is only God who can and does change hearts and lives!

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrew 4:16

I used to ask God to help me.
Then I asked if I might help Him.
I ended up asking Him to do His work through me.
