The TREE Method
This week I wanted to explain the method of counseling that the WILDS uses. First of all, one phrase that has helped me to understand more of my Christian walk is that my sin is not just wrong, but my sin is against the character of God. I have learned that every problem stems back to what I believe about God. I might be struggling with a problem like lying, worrying, or fear but ultimately, those actions are a result of what I am believing about my God. Using the illustration of a tree there is the fruit on the top of the tree, then the trunk, and the roots. In our Christian life, the fruit represents the behavior we exhibit on a daily basis. The trunk is what we believe about the situation and ourselves. But those two are rooted in what we believe about God and His character. This clear presentation of every problem we face is so insightful because it shows what is really going on and how the problem can be fixed. It is only when I realize who my God is and the promises He has given me in His Word that my perspective of all of life changes! Every week I continue to learn so much more about my God and myself.
COR
For those of you who heard my news, I did end up having bronchitis this past week. I was put on COR which is counselor on rotation. We did odd jobs around camp and took extra time to rest. I am thankful for the time of r & r before heading back with renewed strength for the last three weeks of camp. The summer is flying by!
I have one specific prayer request, I am looking for a ride back home. Please pray that I might find someone driving home so I do not have to look into plane/bus tickets. Thanks you for continuing to pray for the ministry here at the WILDS and for your letters of encouragement. Please let me know how I can specifically pray for you!
