Half Way Through the Summer

“It’s not just about the games.” – a camper
Actually, there is so much more to camp. God saved two of my campers this past week. It has been really interesting to look back over the week and realize how much I have been learning about my God and myself. Realizing that after camp I only have two weeks before I started teaching, I have wondered why in the world I signed up to counsel ten weeks of my summer. Yet, in just a small way I am beginning to understand why. God is greatly using this opportunity to deepen my love for Him and my understanding of Him. Also, He is teaching me the value to being able to make others laugh and enjoying funny moments together. Even with children, bringing a smile to their face builds bridges. I know that the Lord wanted me here at this camp!
Fun Fact: This week, on Thursday after lights out, my girls decided to give me a special surprise. On the count of three, they dog piled me! It was a special moment of cabin bonding. It was a nice way to make us all laugh. That was a highlight of their week.

Becky, a 5th grade camper in my cabin, said, “What I like about this camp is that we are here so that they can teach us about the Bible and how to be saved.”
