August 2011
One of my goals as a counselor each week, encouraged by the WILDS, is to spend time every week with every camper in one-on-one time. This is a good opportunity to hear about their life, ask them to share their salvation testimony and disciple them. The Lord has been teaching me the best method of how to approach this time. This week had almost ended and I still needed to have a one-on-one with one of my campers. It came down to Friday afternoon when we finally started to talk. When I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she began to cry. It then came out that she was not fully surrendered to the Lord because she was afraid of moving if the Lord asked her to do that. I shared my own personal testimony and some lessons learned from the life of Corrie ten Boom. After we looked at some verses in God’s Word, I told her to pray and think about her choice for the rest of the afternoon. Then that evening after the service and invitation, I thought that she was not going to respond at all when she turned around and motioned that she wanted to go out for counseling. We left the building and then she explained that she was ready to surrender her life to the Lord. Praise the Lord for the work that He had done in her heart! Another girl in my cabin also surrendered her life to the Lord this past week!
